Activities

RPCVLA strives to build a community among returned Peace Corps Volunteers in Los Angeles. We organize a variety of events from social gatherings to volunteer events. A favorite of our members are our monthly TGIF dinners. We have sampled West African, Nepalese, Korean, Brazilian, and Indian food to name a few from around the city. Check our calendar for upcoming events.

Our largest and most popular event is our Annual International Dinner. With generally over 100 attendees, the dinner features cuisines from around the world, networking and fun. We honor a local hero, who embodies and promotes the goals of the Peace Corps and the event is our largest fundraiser for the Yamanaka Fund.

The Yamanaka Fund, named after Jean Yamanaka, a former RPCV, supports projects of peace corps volunteers serving in the field. Since its creation in 1976, the Fund has financed projects from countries all over the world.

Everyone is welcome to join our events. We hope you will join RPCVLA to become part of our community and learn about upcoming events and activities. We encourage everyone to become paid members to support the Yamanaka Fund and receive event discounts. To become a member, select Get Involved and then Become a Member. When registering with the National Peace Corps Association (NPCA), select “Returned Peace Corps Volunteers of Los Angeles” as your affiliate group. You will then be signed up for our newsletter and event updates.
